👋🏻 About Me

I’m David Demaree, founder and principal at Bits&Letters, a newly launched agency focused on modern frontend development, design systems, and headless/decoupled content systems. Prior to founding B&L in 2024, I was a longtime Big Tech product leader (alum of Adobe, Google, Stripe, and Webflow) and had served as an early frontend/full-stack engineer on the Typekit team, alongside folks like Jeff and Greg Veen, Ryan Carver, Mandy Brown, Jason Santa Maria, Bram Stein, Tim Brown, Paul Hammond, and Elliot Jay Stocks.

Brief CV

📕 Git for Humans

My book, originally published by A Book Apart in 2016, all rights reverted to me when ABA ended operations in 2024. POD/ebook editions are currently available from IngramSpark under a new ISBN registered to Bits & Letters LLC but the content is otherwise unchanged from the first edition.

An excerpt from the book was published in A List Apart, titled “The Art of the Commit.”

I actually worked briefly with editor Caren Litherland on a revised edition in 2020, but for various reasons never published it. For 2025, I would imagine the book needs another significant revision, including potentially adding content on LLMs and AI workflows.
